The Association for Coaching defines coaching as “a collaborative, solution-focused, results oriented and systematic process in which the coach facilitates the enhancement of work performance, life experience, self-directed learning and personal growth of the coachee.  This includes exploration of business and work-related topics as well as personal development topics”.

Anyone can benefit from coaching because it is tailored to the goals and needs of each person.

Our coaching helps people to:

  • Maximise potential and productivity
  • Build leadership capability at all levels
  • Clarify future goals and create a plan to achieve these
  • Build self-confidence and skills to meet work and life challenges
  • Gain new and different perspectives, contributing to better outcomes
  • Reflect upon, learn and grow from experiences
  • Reset and rethink thoughts, feelings and actions to maximise effectiveness
  • Expand knowledge, skills and capabilities to meet current and future work expectations
  • Prepare for and successfully navigate work and life transitions
  • Identify personal and professional values, and live and work in alignment with these
  • Increase resilience and well-being, and better manage stress
  • Better manage time, prioritise, and successfully navigate competing priorities
  • Use evidence-based profiling and survey tools including 360 degree feedback to better understand values, preferences, strengths and areas for development
  • The first session is usually about getting to know you and setting some goals or focus areas for your coaching.  It helps if you come along with some ideas about what you would like to get out of the coaching.
  • Subsequent sessions are focused on meeting your goals. This could be through discussion, thoughtful questions, and specific activities or exercises.
  • Often we will recommend actions or tasks to do in between the coaching sessions to assist with the coaching goals.  This is negotiable.
  • The format of each coaching session is typically  (a) welcome and reconnect (b) review what’s happened since last time (c) agree on the important coaching topics for this session (d) focused time on specific coaching or session goals (e) session review and agree in-between session activities

Our coaching sessions are usually one hour.  One-off sessions may be 1.5 hours or even 2 hours. In-person sessions where clients have travelled a long distance may also be longer.

Yes. As a registered psychologist Leonie is bound by strict ethical and professional standards including confidentiality.  We ask all of our coaching clients to complete an information and consent form prior to commencing coaching; this includes information about confidentiality, limits to confidentiality, and how your information is stored.  Some workplace coaching programs request summary information about the focus of coaching sessions and the outcomes and benefits of the coaching.  If you are a part of a workplace coaching program like this, we would discuss up-front how any information sharing would work and seek your consent to participate.

Coaching sessions can be either in-person or online.  If you are located in Brisbane or South East Queensland, we can meet in-person, either at our coaching room in Tarragindi or we can travel to you or your workplace.  Otherwise coaching sessions can be held online.  Sometimes people wonder whether online or virtual coaching is effective.  The answer is yes!  Virtual coaching is very popular and just as effective as in-person coaching.

The number of coaching sessions you need will depend on your reasons for seeking coaching, and your coaching goals.  Sometimes a single coaching session can be very helpful.  Usually people benefit from multiple coaching sessions over time.  4, 6 or 8 sessions is more typical, which is why we offer these coaching program packages.  Coaching sessions are often spaced around a month apart, although sessions can be closer together or further apart depending on the focus of the coaching.  It is quite common for people to complete one program of coaching sessions, and then return in future for a further program of coaching sessions or for the occasional one-off top-up session.
